The proposal to rename our bridge has been officially dropped and the name remains untouched. Thank you for signing your name to keep our local history intact. Stay alert to ensure no similar attempts surface in the future.
Just as San Franciscans love The Golden Gate Bridge, we have a fondness for the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, which has linked the cities of San Diego and Coronado for over 40 years. And just as no one would think of changing the name of the Golden Gate, we the undersigned do not want the name of the SD-Coronado Bridge, locally known as The Coronado Bridge, changed.
There is an effort underway to remove the name of the San Diego-Coronado Bridge and rename it after Ronald Reagan. We think that changing the name of the bridge is an unnecessary use of resources and we oppose any effort to rename the bridge after Ronald Reagan, or any public figure, organization or corporation.
We just hit 1,000 signatures to keep our bridge name. Direct this momentum by emailing your local representative today to confirm they oppose the renaming plan.
