Paying a premium for a ‘luxury house’ at Conningbrook Lakes? Read on!

The Conningbrook Lakes development in Ashford is beautiful, but the quality of the properties is shocking. There have been building regulations breaches regarding lighting and mobility access, breaking of planning permission, and lack of disabled access to many properties, rendering wheelchair users stranded in their own homes. Directors of both Latimer (part of the Clarion Housing Group) and Chartway have repeatedly ignored us.

Latimer and Chartway have absolutely no regard for their customers, with most homeowners being repeatedly ignored for up to 2 years.

Construction issues such as sewerage leaks, faulty electrics, front doors that do not close, damp, gardens having to be dug up due to mistakes and holes in the internal floors are just some of the problems. These have been repeatedly reported to Latimer and Chartway, with some people having to wait over 2 years to even have the problem acknowledged. This simply isn’t good enough.

We, the undersigned, believe we have waited long enough and demand that action is taken to not only address all of our issues within 28 days of this petition, but also to have direct contact from Latimer to each and every property so that the issues can be logged by a senior member of staff and monitored, with compensation paid to those most impacted.

If action is not taken we intend to start a Group Litigation Order against Latimer and Chartway.

I am still reading through the messages you are sending me about the conditions in your homes and it is heartbreaking to see how many of us have been ignored. Behind the scenes I am preparing to hold those responsible accountable because this level of neglect cannot continue. This momentum belongs entirely to the people who took the time to speak up alongside me.

The delays in getting simple snagging sorted have been ridiculous - and that was pre Covid. No one seems to know what they’re doing, or really care. Love my home but not the developers or their lack of aftercare.

Lovely development but the after care is shocking. Feel very let down by the developers.

Issues have been ignored since pre-purchase, a fundamental one has since caused damage to our property to which we still have not had any contact in regards to its repair despite numerous requests.

Constantly ringing Aftercare and No communication back either by email or phone, sick to death of being ignored when problems arise. Needs addressing urgently!

It's a lovely area disappointed with developer after care service. Due to covid19 caused delayed repairs that should extend warranty.

We have had most of our snagging done now (having fought for 2 years) but are signing this on behalf of our friends and neighbours.

I have had numerous problems with my home since I moved in last year. One of which was a faulty toilet which leaked into my hall and caused thick black mould to grow. The carpet still hasn’t been replaced and my newborn baby was breathing this all in. Plus a water bill of £100 a month for the constant escape of water. A blocked drain full of rubble, a faulty front door pLus 45 snags before I even moved in. Really not acceptable for a house which looks so well built on the outside. Very shoddy workmanship from nearly all the trades. Somebody needs to take responsibility for all these faults and ensure they are still not happening on the houses being built now. We are all due an explanation, some immediate action to get the repairs done and compensation. Your company needs to listen to the residents before somebody goes to the media.
