The school board issued a formal statement this morning condemning these racist incidents and outlining their mandatory training protocol for all district staff. We have secured the policy shift we requested and will monitor these new procedures closely to ensure they are implemented effectively in every building.

Recently, there have been some high visibility incidents of racism at FCPS, most notably the n-word being yelled at a visiting football player at Marshall High School, and anti-Asian slurs yelled at a student at Longfellow Middle School. We are asking for awareness on these events, as well as a formal statement from FCPS condemning these actions and articulating a plan for how anti-racist behavior can be encouraged by students, parents and staff at FCPS.

The volume of support has reached a level that allows us to request a formal meeting with school board leadership. I am currently drafting a letter to outline our requirements for an official policy response and a clear plan for school safety.

This is disgusting that this is happening especially at a place where students are meant to feel safe
Honestly, it's sad that people from my school have to go through this. And just cause we're Asian.
I am from fairfax highschool and the amount of racism is very prevalent and preventable
This is not the FCPS that I know and love. We do not stand for this hate, and we should show our support through our actions and words.

I really really dislike how some people are prejudiced towards someone with a different race. The main and practically only difference is the color of their skin and possibly place of origin. Why would you verbally harass someone with terrible, offensive, and inappropriate words if they haven’t even done anything to you? The only cruel enough reason I barely manage to understand is that people might think it’s fun. I would like to note how the victim is Asian, and that some people prefer to stay quiet, making Asians common victims of these events. I signed this petition (and I’m sure many others as well) to help prevent these events from reoccurring. Stop this hate, why can’t we get along?
