The Community hereby demands the removal and/or termination of all unlawful / illegally operating businesses, including but not limited to the trucking activities, in the Riverhorse Valley, Umhlangane River Conservancy and greater areas.

These unlawful businesses have illegal structures erected and hazardous materials on their premises that are a danger and menace to the greater community and Users of Prince Mhlangana Road, Riverhorse Valley.

The trucking entities have damaged the roads, storm water systems, manholes, and the river itself.

The community is not willing to sit back any longer and allow such devastation to our conservancy and residential areas, so all those signing this petition hereby do so in full support of all actions required by eThekwini Municipality Law Enforcement department to hereby enforce the by-laws and have all unlawful/illegally operating entities removed from the area entirely, and fined/charged accordingly for all contraventions.

We also hereby approve the author of the petition as spokesperson and community representative already on record for representing the greater community on these matters being AI Panchoo (28/10/1975).

This petition will be sent to the eThekwini Municipality departments, specifically Law Enforcement department, for the actioning of the removal / termination of any and all such unlawful activities.

Updates

April 7, 2021

The feedback from those living along the river has been overwhelming even if the authorities continue to avoid my emails. I am exhausted from the constant back and forth with local officials but I will not stop pushing for the restoration of our conservancy.

April 7, 2021

The momentum behind this effort has reached a level I honestly did not think we would see when I started. It is exhausting to fight this battle every single day but seeing your commitment makes me realize that we are finally being heard.

Extremely noisy at night with banging and truck reverse horn beeping, strongly agree that Mhlangana road should not be used for industrial purposes!!

The truckers presence in a conservation area... Makes a mockery of the fact that it is designated a conservancy. Stop the double standards

These trucks are a hazard, they do not respect the rights of other road users, parking on kerbs, cutting in front of vehicles.

No industry should inhabit umhlangane road... This is a Residential Z one with the Industrial Park zoned especially for this purpose. Businesses should respect Residential zoning going forward which in turn should be supported/enforced by the local Municipality.

Truck yard and logistiacal operations needs to be restricted from conservation and residential areas. More so near schools and places of prayer. Trucks break every law and causes endless disruption to communities. More so all of these truck company owners never live in the same area of operation like in our situation, Prince Umhlangane road.
