The purpose of the petition is to block the passage of House Bill 07-1292 to be presented before the Colorado Senate soon. The bill promises to to set new statewide standards for teaching safe sex and abstinence in Colorado public schools. While the need for age-appropriate and fact-based education about sexual matters is evident, HB07-1292 proposes a curriculum that exceeds this need by including transgenderism, gender-identity, bisexuality, masturbation, and abortion. We believe that the content of the curriculum is inappropriate, unnecessary, anti-family, and especially confusing and harmful to its targeted audience which may include students as young as 9 years of age. Please act quickly. House Bill 07-1292 quietly passed in the Colorado House of Congress on February 22, 2013. It will be presented before the Senate in the very near future.
Keep this garbage out of our schools. It should be up to the parents to talk about these things at home not the state. Stop confusing our kids with this stuff!
