Final supporters
We seek a local exception to the county code which would allow us to run our dogs off leash in the median strip between the two big ball fields at Jess Martin Park south of Julian. The code, as written, allows for such an exception by the park ranger. An exception would allow dog owners, as well as park staff, more control over both rules and times of use.
It seems to be an area not otherwise used, could easily be bounded with a small span of temporary fencing and would expand the recreational use of Jess Martin Park. As it stands today we believe there is a greater risk of dogs interacting negatively with pedestrians as we are all confined to the narrow sidewalk encircling the ball fields.
It is our intent to present our request to the Park Committee at the meeting on Tuesday, June 21 at 7:00 in Room 4 of the high school. We wish to demonstrate that there is strong community interest for a leash-free dog area and that it can be a win-win situation for everyone.

Park was to be for "multi-use" which needs to also include responsible dog owners. Why not have set times morning and evening for off-lease dogs? It's more than "backward" for a community NOT to have dog park provision.
In Julian, there isn't a near by park to take dogs to stretch their legs and run. I work full time, but am off for the summer. I have 2 well behaved dogs that I was looking forward to participating in the dog meet ups. I am so disappointed that this privilege may be a thing of the past.
Out of all of the San Diego communities, Julian is the most dog friendly area. There are dogs at most residences. It's a shame that because Julian seems like it's on the other side of the world to the local city dweller, it's disregarded when it comes to having an all important and much needed dog park. We deserve the same simple amenities as the larger communities.
As a local dog owner in julian, I believe it is important for our heavily dog friendly community to have a public area for our dogs to run off leash. It would provide a place for locals and tourists alike to connect with others as well as provide a new recriational activity to the community.
We need it desperately! Please give us a much needed dog park that will be well used and extremely appreciated. Why do we have to drive a half hour to an hour just to use a dog park? That's ridiculous. Not all of us have the time nor are able to afford the cost of gas. We care about our dogs and they need to be exercised and socialized. There's no doubt that there will be volunteers who would be willing to maintain the dog park at no cost.
We desperately need a dog park in Julian! Please consider letting us have one at Jess Martin park. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

As a responsible dog parent of three high energy dogs, Winter, Peeta and Rusty, I ask that you please have a provision to use part of Jess Martin Park as a dog park. Our community needs a safe place for dogs and their owners or "dog parents" to meet up and enjoy. Thank you.
