Following the blizzard that hit the District over the weekend, Prince George's County Maryland is still in horrible shape. Sidewalks aren't shoveled and roads are still icy. I fear for the walker students, especially the ones in elementary school. They would have to risk walking in the road to get to school. The last thing I think any of us want to see on the news is how a group of four or five children were hit by an oncoming car and are now in the hospital getting treated. I propose that schools in Prince George's County Maryland should remain closed through the week to avoid everything from buses getting stuck on side roads to children having to risk their lives walking on the road.

I HAVE BEEN IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH LOCAL OFFICIALS TO ENSURE THEY UNDERSTAND THE DANGER THESE ICY ROADS POSE TO OUR CHILDREN!! YOUR STORIES ABOUT THE TREACHEROUS CONDITIONS NEAR YOUR HOMES ARE PROVING BEYOND A DOUBT THAT KEEPING SCHOOLS OPEN IS A HUGE MISTAKE!! WE ARE PUSHING HARDER THAN EVER TO KEEP EVERY SINGLE STUDENT SAFE FROM THESE UNACCEPTABLE HAZARDS!!

Please close school for the week. I rely on the bus to go to school and the roads near my house are not clear and only one lane works. This can cause traffic problems and accident.
Close the schools cause I rely on the Bus run by county and they are rerouted meaning I hsve to walk to catch bus to Brightseat Road from Sheriff Road to catch bus.nope I m not risking my life.
Southern PG county is horrible! No sidewalks for the kids to navigate safely, no access to the bus stops still stacked 4-6 feet high with snow. The main roads may look amazing (in some places), but many of the neighborhoods are still treacherous. Safety first should be the concern for both the students AND the faculty.
I have an elementary student and I would not like to be at work and get a call saying she got hit by a car or bus all because she walking in the streets and not the side walks.
My neighborhood is still covered in ice and snow. As a disabled parent it's difficult trying to maneuver through the ice and snow. I don't want anyone's child, let alone my own getting hurt trying to navigate these conditions.
Close the schools please it’s way below freezing and that’s not safe to be walking in

The sidewalks are piled high with snow. Malcom road is still only 1 1/2 lanes wide. Alot of neighborhoods are single lanes. Close the schools til Monday and keep our kids safe. If you cant keep them safe as parents we will. No school for mine til Monday.
