We, the undersigned, are asking that Pinal County Board of Supervisors consider closing the Cloudview Trailhead to all traffic and parking on the grounds that:
- Too many people/cars are trying to fit into too small a place and are parking along what are already narrow neighborhood streets, on both sides of the street.
- Citizens in the neighborhood are having their privacy and quiet, peaceful enjoyment of their property interrupted for several days each week, all day long.
- “No Parking” street signs that have been posted all along Cloudview and the streets that feed Cloudview are routinely ignored.
- Illegal parking causes health, safety and welfare issues because the cars narrow the roads to the point where emergency services can and have had a hard time accessing the emergencies. Air evacuation services have also had difficulties accessing the site due to overcrowding. We tend to be an older community where those concerns are very important and very real.
- With the large quantity of people using the trailhead, they forget that they are in a private neighborhood. Every weekend there is a great deal of noise with so many people, and it becomes a party atmosphere, where people are likely to get rowdy.
This is a residential neighborhood, not a Disneyland Park. The increased trailhead usage has resulted in dangerous road conditions, unreasonable traffic, noise levels, trash and loss of privacy in the neighborhood of Cloudview and all the feeder streets. This is diminishing our quality of life, affecting road safety and livability in our neighborhood.
We ask that the County Board of Supervisors:
- Close the Cloudview Trailhead
- Post signage on north Kings Ranch Road (close to Baseline Road) indicating the trailhead is closed.
- Rehabilitate the parking lot to natural desert conditions – remove the asphalt, signs, hitching posts, port-a-potties, and garbage dumpster.
- Block access to the area until the desert is re-established.
- Enforce the trailhead closure so that parking on our streets does not continue.
- Enable a towing company to remove vehicles that defy the trailhead closure.
