Close Cloudview Trailhead

As a result of the complete and utter disregard for all owners property rights, lawfulness, and simple compassion for our fellow citizens, this parking area should be, at a minimum, reevaluated. I agree, although I have yet to be privilege to, with Mrs. Pico, that if other less intrusive access, safer, and more adventurous routes to the trailhead exist, it seems it would behoove our county leadership to make those routes readily accessible right away. It would seem that this is all about the obvious. People tend to follow the paths of least resistance. Our leaders should simply create that path. This could actually work very well while the 8 year plan materializes. One may even agree that the more people you could satisfy, the better opportunity for solid re-election. Imagine, minimum cost to affect, an entire neighborhood pleased with the results, and the community at large could still enjoy the natural beauty the trails here offer, coupled with an adventurous ride to the trails. This is a win, win, win!!! Thanks Darlene for the idea. I would campaign and personally endorse any elected official that could spearhead this plan to fruition.

I think the existing trail trail head is okay, but not the access via Cloudview. Way too much traffic through a residential area creating a myriad of problems. The trail head could be accessed from Peralta Road where existing two tack roads could be graded to the trail head accross state trust land or simply make the existing Lost Gold Mine trail head, the trail head for the Hieroglyphic trail. There is already a large parking lot at the Lost Gold Mine trail as well and both trails intersect one another.

We feel that the trailhead should be moved due to the amount of traffic, lack of parking and lack of exit other than via Baseline Ave. We chose to live out in Gold Canyon for the quiet and beauty. We are not expecting to encounter the amount of traffic we have here. Please consider an alternate access site outside of our residential area. Thank you!

We have ceased to walk and ride our bikes on the crowded road where too many vehicles a day are going by at excessive speeds. They have made it too dangerous to use the road anymore.

Hiking state and federal lands is a privilege that needs to be respected and laws obeyed. People not doing that ruin it for all. This area has been taken for granted and the privilege has been abused. It's very sad but that's what humans do, ruin it for others.

This traffic conditions are a safety issue with people speeding our narrow streets to get to and from the current trailhead parking lot. Our roads are residential and not built to handle public trailhead numbers. Please close the parking lot and do not allow people to park their vehicles on our residential streets in order to access the trailhead.

PLEASE READ! I agree with the petition to close the trailhead access on Cloudview. The roads allow for normal traffic flow of the community – local residence respecting the traffic laws and being able visit with each other throughout the day on strolls, dog walks, and bicycle rides. My location experiences an invasion of illegal parking (despite being posted), noise and disruptions throughout the day, increased trash along my property and roadside. I have an elder parent that resides with me and have had need for emergency vehicles reaching the house. They can do so on a good day with careful negotiation. It would be impossible on a day with the streets lined with traffic and crowds of pedestrians walking down the middle of the road, as they often do. I can no longer take her on scenic strolls as I can’t get her wheelchair far enough out of the road when traffic is peaked and using excessive speed – extremely dangerous. Further, I’ve had my property accent lights knocked over and a 2 ft section of perimeter wall knocked down by someone turning around. The last straw was having people, groups of men, showing up at my door asking to use the faucet for water after hiking. As a humanitarian, I allowed them to fill their bottles but insisted they move on and respect the privacy signs that are posted. These are very capable people of which I know nothing of their intentions… what am I supposed to expect when I’m not home to protect my family and ill-intentioned groups come to my door. Please relocate the access point immediately and return our community back to the safety and serenity we invested in and expected.

My wife, Diane Ochs, and I both agree 100 percent with the petition. Additionally, I would also like to close the trailhead that recently opened at the north end of Blackhawk Road and, as an associated follow up, end the parking on the SW corner of Kings Ranch Road and Baseline Avenue, which is where those persons park. I think the community of Gold Canyon has jurisdiction of this parcel. Thanks, Mark Ochs

I agree the traffic is heavier than I would like. The trail head does not have adequate parking and this has to be addressed. I am in favor of rerouting the trailhead .

Agree with the proposal and it makes a lot of sense. The current trailhead and traffic load pose a significant safety risk to the residents and to other folks that use the roads for biking and walking routinely.

I like the idea of establishing the trail head via Carney Springs off Peralta

I am concerned about the excessive traffic on Cloudview and well as parked cars all along the roads. Not a safe situation for us who’s travel the only road out of our community. Unsafe.

I agree with all of the statements to close the trailhead. I have lived in gold canyon on Cloudview for 29 years and have seen the negative changes over the years.
