SUCCESS! CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE - COUNCIL HAVE CHANGED THEIR MINDS AND THE PARK & RIDE SCHEME HAS BEEN SCRAPPED.
Reading Borough council are planning to implement a 'micro' park and ride at the Clayfield Copse carpark on Caversham Park Road. The potential impacts of this scheme are as follows:
Charges - the carpark is currently free but will change to being £4 if you stay more than 2 hours (operational Mon-Fri, 7am til 11pm.
Security - a higher volume of cars left all day = more opportunity for thieves and vandals
Traffic - potential increase in the numbers of vehicles using Caversham Park Road during peak times.
Buses - the 'ride' part of the scheme is the existing 23 service. Anyone who currently uses this could find buses becoming uncomfortably overcrowded at peak times.
Environmental - light and noise pollution could affect both local residents and wildlife.
We the undersigned wish to make known our objection to the proposed Clayfield Copse Park & Ride scheme:
