Currently, we operate the Charleswood Museum next door to the current Library and have increased hours of operation during the Centennial Year. Lately we have had significant increases in donations of artifacts and contributions to the museum, but space is too limited to properly display artifacts and serve the community as we hope to. The City’s desire for a mutli-use facility for upgraded library and other services is both practical and timely.
The Charleswood Historical Society will request space in the new library facility for preparation, storage and display of artifacts, as well as classroom and meeting room space to host community groups. We will make such a proposal to the City of Winnipeg before April 8 and are seeking the support of other interested individuals and organizations.

The City is finalizing plans for the new facility and we need to ensure our history is part of their layout. Please email your local representative today to insist that space for the museum remains a top priority. Mention that the current storage constraints are actively preventing us from protecting new donations.

We hit a major milestone that proves our neighborhood wants the museum artifacts to have a permanent home in the new library. Email your city council representative today to demand this space be included in the architectural plans.

Our history is being lost because of the lack of storage. Huge loss for Winnipeg if we don't fix this now.

The artifacts belong to the community. We really need this space so they aren't just sitting in boxes somewhere. Hope the city listens.
