Members of the Board of the Vicksburg Country Club (VCC), keep Chris Rutherford! Many stockholders, members, and parents of VCC feel that losing Chris would have a negative impact on the progress that has been made in just a short time.
The youth golf program run by Chris has been the best thing that has happened to VCC in a very long time. Not only has the membership grown, but also member participation. This summer is proof that it is working. It needs more time. It needs Chris Rutherford!
Chris Rutherford's best quality is his ability to work with children. Not everyone has that quality. It takes a special person. Chris has a special bond with our children and the patience it takes to bring the best out of them. Chris makes golf fun for them, and they enjoy being out there because of him. Be very careful if you think you can simply substitute another golf instructor and have similar results.
There is no denying that there have been more children resulting in more parents utilizing their club than in many years past. Why would anyone change the very reason for this increase in activity? Is the payroll too high? The Board needs to find other ways to cut the payroll, ways that do not bring in income. Cut back elsewhere and keep Chris Rutherford for kids' sake!

The momentum behind this effort continues to grow in a way that highlights how much our community values these youth programs. It is clear that the impact of this work is felt deeply by many families at the club.

I cannot understand how anyone who spends time at VCC cannot see the value of Chris Rutherford. But then again, "common sense is not very common". Chris is one of the best at working with kids I have ever seen in any sport. Go play a round with 5 kids around 10 yrs old & then spend several more hours on the range teaching them. You will appreciate Chris & vote to give him a huge raise.
I've been a member for 40 years and have never seen this many children playing golf at the club. Girls and boys, this is the future of this club. Chris is totally responsible for this.
Chris has done a wonderful job with the children at the club and building the JGP. His work with the program has caused the biggest increase in membership at the club and use of the club that I know of in the last 10 years. Why would we want to change that? Chris is very patient with the children while he teaches them. You will not get that with just anyone. The Board should reconsider!! Penny Johnstob
Golf for our boys was one of the main reasons we joined in May. The opportunity that Chris has given our boys has made a positive impact on furthering their interest in golf. He has given them a confidence they need to keep going and playing each week!
He has made such a positive impact in my Grandchildren's lives & it is showing in so many ways. Who would have thought the game of golf would have impacted their lives so positively? It just goes to show that it takes someone that loves their job & more importantly those that he is teaching. Chris is the perfect teacher, coach & mentor & the children love him. What more can any parent ask for!
Chris and the junior program is great for VCC and ultimately the youth of our community!
We need Chris.

Chris has been THE reason so many kids have been into playing golf at VCC, and free lessons for juniors is a huge selling point for prospective members. If more active members worked a bit harder in recruiting new families Into membership at VCC , this discussion wouldn't even be in play.
