He has made such a positive impact in my Grandchildren's lives & it is showing in so many ways. Who would have thought the game of golf would have impacted their lives so positively? It just goes to show that it takes someone that loves their job & more importantly those that he is teaching. Chris is the perfect teacher, coach & mentor & the children love him. What more can any parent ask for!

Chris is the reason my daughter loves golf! He is very patient. Why would this even be a consideration of losing Chris. You can't just throw someone else in and expect the same results.

Chris' contagious love for golf would be a devastating loss for our club. The patients, time, and energy he puts into the junior golf program is unmatched by any program around. My son, Phillip, started playing roughly 7-8 weeks ago. He has played many sports, but never has he loved a sport more than golf. I attribute this to Chris's sound instruction and ability to make learning fun. Golf can be a frustrating sport, but with Chris' style of instruction it takes much of the frustration out of the lesson. The whole atmosphere that Chris has created at the club makes the children want to be there. Not just anyone is able to this. It definitely takes a special person to be able to deal with so many children in such an effective way! Children are the life and future of our club!! The way to improve the club is not by cutting cost; it's by increasing revenue! Chris is single handedly doing that. With the increase in membership that he has produced, and the fact that any club thrives on membership how could loosing Chris even be an option?? Please keep Chris! He is doing an outstanding job!!!

I take such pride in hearing my 11 year old daughter have conversations with adults explaining different aspects of our course and using terminology pertaining to golf. Not only is my child developing a love of a sport, she is learning strategy and how to compete.
The Next time you see a gathering of children practicing their chipping or putting in front of the clubhouse realize that chances are Chris Rutherford is the reason they are playing and LOVING the game.

Chris has been THE reason so many kids have been into playing golf at VCC, and free lessons for juniors is a huge selling point for prospective members. If more active members worked a bit harder in recruiting new families Into membership at VCC , this discussion wouldn't even be in play.

Chris has done a wonderful job with the children at the club and building the JGP. His work with the program has caused the biggest increase in membership at the club and use of the club that I know of in the last 10 years. Why would we want to change that? Chris is very patient with the children while he teaches them. You will not get that with just anyone. The Board should reconsider!! Penny Johnstob

I cannot understand how anyone who spends time at VCC cannot see the value of Chris Rutherford. But then again, "common sense is not very common". Chris is one of the best at working with kids I have ever seen in any sport. Go play a round with 5 kids around 10 yrs old & then spend several more hours on the range teaching them. You will appreciate Chris & vote to give him a huge raise.

We joined because Chris is devoted to the Jr Golf program and gives excellent golf instruction. My 2 saw improvement in their skills after the first lesson. The camp was a vital part of their summer.

We need to keep Chris and the JGP. He more than pays for himself with the new members that have joined, because of the program he leads and the kids love him.
The board needs to take a hard look at their decision and reconsider. As board members, you have a responsibility to doing what's in the best interest of the club, and removing Chris and cutting back on the JGP isn't in the best interest of the club.

Chris is the reason we joined VCC to begin with! He's sparked the interest in golf in my son and we'd hate to see him go! Please keep Chris! My son has throughly enjoyed attending the junior golf camps all summer long and looks forward to his future in golf with Chris as his instructor!
