The skatepark was built so there would be somewhere for skateboarders/BMXers/rollerbladers to engage in their chosen activity without being on the streets/town centre where they get moved on because it isnt allowed.
This is fine during the months of the year when it stays light until late, but during the Autumn/Winter months it gets dark very early which means it is too dark to use the skatepark and ultimately they will find somewhere else to go, ie the town centre.
If floodlights were installed then people would would be able to use the skatepark during these months.
The lights wouldnt need to stay on all night, most skateparks with lights have the lights on a timer which generally cuts the lights around 10/11PM.
Please sign this petition as having light at the skatepark would benifit a lot of people, not just the people who use the skatepark but also parents who know their children have somewhere where they can go that is light and built for their chosen activity and not just wandering around town looking for somewhere to do it.

About time. Chesterfield needs this.
Get the lights put in. Kids are literally sitting in the dark by 4pm now. Dangerous and pointless to have a park you cant even see in.
So annoying having to leave the park just cuz the sun goes down. A timer would be perfect, shut them off at 10 and no one gets bothered.
Its just common sense really. Why build the park if they cant use it half the year? Put some lights up and let them ride.
Please. My son loves this place but he has to come home so early because of the dark. Keeping them off the streets is better for everyone.
