It is stated that DPSCD is going to resod the football field in May which was previously done 2 or 3 years ago. This temporary fix does not work due to the poor infrastructure of the design. FIELD TURF is what is needed! Please sign this petition so we can submit to the relevant persons and get this temporary fix changed to a permanent fix!

I have been hearing from so many parents who are tired of seeing their kids get hurt on that patch of dirt. We are pushing for a real solution instead of wasting money on grass that dies every single season.

Seeing this much momentum reminds me of how many times I have watched our kids struggle to play on that crumbling surface. This momentum shows the district that we are tired of wasting school resources on repairs that do not last.

It’s ridiculous that after all of these years, we still can’t get a quality playing field at my alma mater. We have to do better DPS.
We are a 3 time state championship team. We are probably the ONLY team without turf.
Students really push to play sports and maintain good grades. The school gains recognition from the Students and coaches efforts. They should get better equipment and accolades. My son is on the swim team and lacrosse and can't believe that the district does not help keep up the structure of the field and the pool. The teams are winning so that's a good thing but the support to upgrade would show appreciation.
First COVID and now this? The first girls lacrosse team in the city and they can't play another home game this year? Plant the grass next month!
It is also unfair to the LAX teams and other spring sports that rely on that field to have to forgo use of the field during May and June. Have the work done in the summer, instead.
Our student athletes deserve safe conditions. The state of the field is unacceptable and needs to be addressed immediately.
Technicians deserve a quality field!

Other schools in Detroit and DPSCD have turf fields. Cass Tech is producing college athletes in all of it’s field sports, it’s unfair to the kids (which should be the focus, not politics!)
