Dear Mr. Goldfarb,
I am speaking for over 3/4th's of The Class of 2015 at Fairfax High School. As a class most of us, as well as those that did not get the opportunity to sign, agree that graduation should not be taken place in our school gym. We are the biggest class the school has ever had. Thus, it is 700 of us plus faculty sitting side by side on the floor, and over 2,500 guest on the bleachers. Not only would this cause trouble in the gym itself; but also parking issues. The alternative, and wiser choice, would be to locate graduation at The Patriot Center. It would not only be more spacious; but also more memorable for those graduating. There are over 525 signatures (if not more), we students have spoken, and we only hope our desire for graduation becomes true.
Yours truly,
Dagoberto Acevedo
I agree it would be much spacious and better to have the graduation at the patriot center. However, Mr. Goldfarb cannot just decide to have it there on his own. Its a long process to get approval from both GMU and the county. In addition, many schools have reserved the patriot center already for graduation so if we were to get a hold of a day at the patriot center, it would be July. Although it would be very nice to have our graduation in a larger facility, we need to keep in mind that it isn't easy to change something that fast. I have a family of 6 so I would very much like them to see me graduate, but I do understand that it takes time for the school to make these decisions.
