Dear Mr. Goldfarb,

I am speaking for over 3/4th's of The Class of 2015 at Fairfax High School. As a class most of us, as well as those that did not get the opportunity to sign, agree that graduation should not be taken place in our school gym. We are the biggest class the school has ever had. Thus, it is 700 of us plus faculty sitting side by side on the floor, and over 2,500 guest on the bleachers. Not only would this cause trouble in the gym itself; but also parking issues. The alternative, and wiser choice, would be to locate graduation at The Patriot Center. It would not only be more spacious; but also more memorable for those graduating. There are over 525 signatures (if not more), we students have spoken, and we only hope our desire for graduation becomes true.

Yours truly,

Dagoberto Acevedo

The administration has yet to acknowledge our formal request regarding the venue change for graduation. I am currently coordinating with fellow students to ensure our logistical concerns reach the appropriate district offices.

I agree it would be much spacious and better to have the graduation at the patriot center. However, Mr. Goldfarb cannot just decide to have it there on his own. Its a long process to get approval from both GMU and the county. In addition, many schools have reserved the patriot center already for graduation so if we were to get a hold of a day at the patriot center, it would be July. Although it would be very nice to have our graduation in a larger facility, we need to keep in mind that it isn't easy to change something that fast. I have a family of 6 so I would very much like them to see me graduate, but I do understand that it takes time for the school to make these decisions.

All of our class in the gym, plus faculty and family, would be way too much. Not to mention, I feel like having graduation in the gym would be a bad fire hazard

Having graduation in the gym would limit the number of family members students will be allowed to bring. This is unfair to family members that travel oversea to see them graduate. Graduation is the first big accomplishment in someone life that should be celebrated with their families.

Last year, the seats were completely filled. Parents and loved ones had to be seated in the auditorium to watch a live stream of the graduation. They couldn't even see it. Be a man Goldfarb.

Other schools such as Westfield, PVI, and Chantilly use the Patriot Center, why not us?

Sending 700+ students off in our school gym is just asking for trouble. Change the location and allow my family and everyone else's to witness this milestone.
