Living in Eddy County, ND has always provided a serene environment, characterized by the tranquility of our landscapes and the peace that envelops our everyday life. Recently, the proposition to install wind turbines towering at 700 feet tall to the blade tip has been casting shadows of concern. These immense industrial structures, if installed without thoughtful regulation, pose significant threats to the natural balance and well being of our community.

Wind turbines of such vast heights could dramatically impact local wildlife. Birds and bats, essential to our ecosystem, face existential risks flying near turning blades. Not only do these turbines disrupt animal habitats, but they also impose health hazards to residents. The noise levels generated, particularly at night, could deteriorate the quality of sleep and overall health of individuals living nearby.

Moreover, the aesthetic and audial intrusion could diminish property values in our area. Potential home buyers might be deterred by the continuous hum and visual dominance of wind turbines, thereby impacting the economic stability of our community.

To address these concerns, it is necessary to implement specific zoning changes in Eddy County. We propose the following regulations: wind turbine setbacks should be increased to a minimum of1 mile from nonparticipating land owners homes with variances allowed, 1/2 mile from property line of nonparticipating land owners with variances allowed, no shadow flicker on homes, noise levels should not exceed 25 dBA during nighttime, 40 dBA 7am - 10pm, limits on low-frequency noise and infra-sound must be enforced, and testing should be conducted by an independent acoustical expert at the developer's expense when complaints are filed. Also tower height should be addressed due to environmental concerns.

By establishing these measures, Eddy County can ensure that the integration of renewable energy sources like wind turbines does not come at an unacceptable cost to residents' health, local biodiversity, and property values. Please support this call to adapt our local zoning regulations to protect our community and environment. Sign this petition to make a difference in maintaining the tranquility and integrity of Eddy County, ND. Together, we can advocate for a future that respects both nature and progress.

Wind towers are not sustainable. If they were not being subsidized they would not be built. When their life span is over there is no one around to decommission them. Search YouTube on abandoned Wind Towers. I live in Edgeley ND and we already have some older wind towers that blades have fallen off or towers that have started on fire.. nobody is around to clean up!

Green energy sounds good in theory, but, the turbines have terrible unintended consequences

No to wind turbines in a critical part of the central flyway for migratory birds, keep them away from natural habitat areas

I would like to see the distance be extended even further than a mile. Arizona had a bill going through their legislative house to be 5 to 6 miles for infrasound reasoning. I would like to know more about the infrasound
