The bursary system is being abolished and I am honestly shocked that we reached this point. This victory belongs entirely to the 181 people who refused to stay quiet about their own mistreatment. Please keep watching the administration to ensure they actually follow through on these changes.
Nursing students all over Gauteng are tired of the NEW BURSARY SYSTEM that was implemented in 2017.This system forces us to work as employees, in unfavorable conditions. We don't get employee benefits such as danger allowance, medical aid or overtime. We are being exploited. Please help us get rid of this failing system once and for all.
I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped forward to speak up about these unfair conditions. This entire movement has become so much bigger than I ever imagined and the credit belongs entirely to the strength you show every single day.

The bursary system need to be ruled out, it is not meeting the needs of the students relating to the employee status. They’ve dual status, but the bursary is only responsible for the academic part, what about work/ practicals?
Who ensures safety arrival at work and the requirements needed for work like unirforms, stethoscopes and all the necessary equipments that a nurse should have?

This bursary is making us suffer with transport and again we have no benefits while we are exposed to various microorganisms and this compromises our health, we are workers we deserve a dual status #bursary must fall #

it must fall
●we got the study materia late
-we got the stipend late and the first payment was not paid in full.
-we work like all the permanent staff but we don't get paid for working on weekends and public holiday
-we got the uniform late and it's not enough for a week.

It's truly unfair because students are exposed to as much danger as a professional nurses, occupational hazards do not know the difference between a leaner and permanent staff.. So this bursary thing is just a bust... How it was even approved to begin with is baffling

The bursary system is a money looting scheme for those in power and in return we(students) pay the price by having our education compromised. We want to be competent nurses and we can't do that if this bursary system is still in place. #bursarysystemmusfall
