We call on UNISA to grant full allowance support to its students, just as students at other institutions receive. Right now, many of us are expected to study with the same dedication and carry the same workload, yet we do not receive the level of support that makes that study possible. That gap leaves students under pressure and makes it harder to focus on learning, progress with dignity, and complete our studies successfully.
A fair allowance is not a luxury. It helps students cover the basic costs that come with studying and daily living, especially for those who are already struggling. When support falls short, the burden is pushed onto students and their families, and too many are forced to choose between their education and meeting essential needs.
We are asking UNISA to treat its students fairly and provide full allowance support, in line with what students at other institutions receive. Education should open doors, not close them because of unequal support. We want a system that recognizes the real cost of studying and stands behind the students who are working hard to build their future.
Please act now and make full allowance support a reality for UNISA students.
This is important because its the ONLY source of income some students have. We are excluded from the SRD and many of the learnerships all because we are nsfas funded.
