To: Dr. Alan Shepard, Provost & Vice President Academic Dr. Ken Jones, Dean Ted Rogers School of Management Neil Wolff, Associate Dean Ted Rogers School of Management Students in Business Technology Management are concerned with the reduction in offering of ITM 700 and ITM 800. As of fall 2012 ITM 700 will only be available in the fall semester, and ITM 800 will only be available in the winter. This has a negative impact on BTM students, especially those in their 3rd and 4th year who will not be able to graduate on time. Student’s whose graduation dates are prolonged will not be able to begin full time work, especially in their field, as expected. Further, student’s who have taken on loans will be negatively impacted by the interested they will accrue from having to return to school part-time to finish their courses. Students recognize that the reduction in offering of these courses is part of a larger system of underfunded post-secondary education. Year after year departments are faced with budgets that force them to increase class sizes and reduce course selection. We the undersigned: • Call on the Ted Rogers School of Management to continue regularly offering ITM 700 and ITM 800 in the fall, winter, and spring/summer semesters • Call on the Ted Rogers School of Management to truly consult with students when considering reducing course selection or course offerings • Call on the Ted Rogers School of Management and Ryerson University to join the call for adequate public funding for post-secondary education.
