The mission of
the Bristol Borough Bark Park is to enhance community life by offering a safe,
clean, friendly and attractive off-leash space for dogs of all breeds and sizes
to come with their owners to play, exercise and socialize.
The group hopes
to fund the building and maintenance of a dog park entirely through private
donations, fundraisers and ultimately registration fees for park membership. It
will be a public/private partnership between the volunteer group, Bristol
Borough Bark Park and Bristol Borough.
Our mission
includes the following:
-To serve as an
off leash, protected dog park in the Bristol Borough and surrounding
communities
-To offer
opportunities for regular social interactions amongst dogs and dog owners in
the community
-To provide
various programs that will support and enhance responsible dog ownership including: Sponsored
adoption events from local animal shelters, training and
educational opportunities from certified animal trainers/behaviorists, provide civic
opportunities and information to local pet owners through fundraising and
community events
An off-leash dog park would also provide a safe, legal alternative for dog owners to avoid situations where dogs are currently allowed to run free at the Borough ball fields, school fields, the wharf park or Spurline bike path.
Our group is
completely volunteer run. We are in no way connected to any government
agencies. The Bristol Borough Bark Park Committee is currently creating an
action plan, and planning community fundraisers and social event for owners and
their dogs.
Finally. Tired of dodging dogs at the wharf when people let them off leash. This will be way better for everyone
