The health authority finally caved and midwifery services are coming to the Battlefords. We forced them to listen to our demands for better birth options. Stay vigilant to ensure they actually follow through with this promise.

Bringing midwifery care to the Battlefords and area. Pregnancy and childbirth options need to be taken seriously in Saskatchewan. Currently there are only 3 health regions which offer midwifery care and sadly, Praire North Health Region is not one of them. Let's try and change this!
Midwifery services can give you the birth you want, whether you are a first time mom or are becoming a mom all over again. Midwives can assist you in a birthing centre, sometimes in hospital, OR the ever so growing popularity of Home Birth. Home births are an excellent and safe way to birth your children of you are not considered high risk. Midwives take care of your prenatal and postpartum care. They are trained for a minimum of 4 years in everything related to the natural birthing process and more. Midwives are fully equipped to deal with emergency situations.
Another great reason to bring midwifery services to the PNHR is so that the hospitals are freed up for our high risk mothers!Everyone can get the care they need and deserve. The options are wonderful. Remember, Knowledge Is Power!

The Saskatchewan Health Authority continues to ignore our need for basic birthing options in the Battlefords. We are still fighting for the care we deserve while they act like these services are just a luxury. Keep the pressure on them because we are not going anywhere.

The momentum behind this petition is proving that the Saskatchewan Health Authority can no longer ignore our demands for real birth options. Those in charge at the local health region are content to leave us without support but this surge of pressure is forcing them to pay attention.

We need at least a minimum if 3 per health region and a minimum of 10 traveling for those who wish to have home births in the rural areas
every woman should have the right to choose their care provider! Unfortunately this is. It the case in a lot of Canada! We need to lessen the stress on the OB surgeons and provide woman with the option to choose how where and with whom they will give birth!!
I enjoyed home water births for 2 of my 3 babies in BC, and would love to have that option here if we have any more. My midwifes gave excellent service, were very knowledgable, and took the time to educate us on all of our options, etc. They worked well with the hospital and were able to transfer me and continue my care in hospital when I experienced hemoraging after my son was born.
The nurses are swamped in North Battleford and with the first 2 boys I had in NB I was BEGGING for nurses aid and pain relief and was treated rudely!! A midwife present would have ensured a smooth delivery!
it is imperative that women have a choice in birthing. We need more midwives in Saskatchewan. We also need a better model. Let's look to our two neighbours to the west and learn from their success.
YES!! way to go Kalin. we need to let PNHR know that women need the option of midwifery care.
Such an important cause! Midwives are needed everywhere.

Would love to have the option of seeing a midwife for prenatal care and delivery in Lloydminster!!!
We need at least a minimum if 3 per health region and a minimum of 10 traveling for those who wish to have home births in the rural areas
