I would like to see either the nit nurse back into our schools or for the teachers to be allowed to check our children's hair. I am repeatedly treating my daughter for headlice, she has had them 11 times in 4 months. You get parents like myself who check their child(rens) hair every night after school, we treat our child(ren) if we find anything but this is pointless if they go to school the next day and are reinfested time and time again. The treatment they offer on the NHS minor ailments does not work, so repeatedly week in and out i have to pay for solutions and treatments which are not cheap, that do work. I dont believe in sending my child to school if she has headlice, that does not solve the problem, it exacerbates it and makes it worse, so my childs education is being affected due to other parents lack of active parenting. Sending a letter asking parents to be vigilant and check their childrens hair, does not work, we need something more effective we need new strategies and policies in our schools regarding headlice epidemics.
