We are working on seeing about bringing back the VoAg program and an FFA chapter to keystone. Right now we need to start to guage interest in the program. Please list in the comments section if you are in keystone school district as well as if you have any oast experiences you want to share. This program is more than agriculture., it is a building block to many different careers and life skills.

I am a Keystone FFA alumni (2005). I’m now a doctorally prepared APRN with a home in the school district. From a life perspective: I remember learning finances, safe food preparation, and how to live with a budget. I never was great at welding, but I know the concept at least! From a career perspective: The public speaking set the foundation for national presentations. Learning parliamentary procedure has proven useful as I lead system wide projects. The option to do more exploration on topics of our choice our senior year prepared me for anatomy and physiology. FFA and agriculture science is so much more than animals and farming: it’s foundational life skills.

What a great idea to start the ball rolling. For seven years I had the honor of serving as both the teacher and FFA advisor of Keystone FFA. While it has been nearly 25 years since I was the past teacher, today I see student success stories everywhere from the program involved in key positions of leadership. Renewing the program will expand the educational opportunities of the student population and return many benefits to the school district. An active FFA program in many schools is the best public relations program for community involvement and unity.

This can very easily be apart of the STEM curriculum. Please don’t think that FFA is only for farmers. I am a Pastor and a Keystone FFA alum. I learned how to speak in public through FFA.
