Final supporters
Here is why we want to bring tiny house living to South Bend and how it will benefit the city and its residents:
- Provide alternative housing for millennialists who are still paying off student debt, and establishing careers
- Alternative, sustainable lifestyle with a low carbon footprint
- Make use of vacant lots that often go unmaintained
- Transitional housing for the homeless population
The American Dream has often been to go bigger, but some peoples idea of the American Dream is to live tiny. Help us make that legally possible in the city of South Bend today.

Having suffered the same fate of being fined and forced to move my tiny house on wheels I now live in a steel storage building instead of my super insulated tiny house how is this better for me and the world?
I have been following this movement across the country for several years now and I think it's a great idea! South Bend needs to utilize ideas to bring people back into the older neighborhoods, which I live in one,and revive these areas .
I fully support this movement. I agree that it would aid in maintaining lots that currently go untouched and therefore become an eyesore or even become a danger. This would eliminate that. It would also benefit the homeless population in giving them a place to live, shelter from the elements, an address for employment purposes, all reducing the homeless population significantly.
Housing for the homeless? Um, yes please. This is northern Indiana and there's a bit of a snow storm going on outside right now. I about blew over and froze just taking the trash out for 2 minutes.. I couldn't imagine being stuck somewhere out there with no place to go. Signed and shared..
Innovation and sustainability -- and beauty! I would love to grow old in a tiny house community where I could walk to downtown restaurants and businesses and tend a little community garden, to boot. What's YOUR tiny house dream?
Would love to be apart of a community like this.
I would love a tiny home. These are such a good idea for eco-friendly people and being friendly towards them in south bend/ St. Joseph county could very much bring in new people and more business for our economy!

Hello City your trying to put huge house on half lot sizes and your causing people to move to county so they can have larger lots if your not going to start redeveloping these city lots back to full instead of half at least start letting these small houses be put on these half lots, better to get some tax dollars then none
