We are asking for real support to address homelessness on the Mornington Peninsula, including practical housing options for people sleeping rough.

My name is Billy, and I am a Year 7 student at Woodleigh. At the moment, I am studying Civics and Citizenship, and as part of that I have been writing to Chris Crewther about homelessness in our area. In my first letter, I raised the idea of TAFE students building tiny homes for people on the Mornington Peninsula who are sleeping rough. I believed this was a practical way to give people safe shelter while also involving students in a useful community project.

After that, I received a response, and there were some things in it that I thought were inaccurate. I followed up in a second email to explain my concerns and to keep the conversation going. This issue matters because homelessness is not just a statistic. It affects real people in our community who need dignity, safety, and a fair chance to get back on their feet.

We believe the Mornington Peninsula needs more than short-term talk. We need action, good information, and support for ideas that can make a real difference. Tiny homes are one possible part of that response, especially when people are sleeping rough and need somewhere safe to stay.

We are asking for homelessness on the Mornington Peninsula to be taken seriously, and for constructive solutions to be considered with honesty and care. Every person deserves shelter, respect, and hope.
