Do you like the idea of having another option for your travel experience besides a hotel, in St. Joe Township MI? Perhaps a home in the woods away from the bars and noise? Would you enjoy being near the beach and river? How about having kayaks and bikes available to use, fire pit, walking trails, wild life?
Our home is surrounded by 20 acres of old growth oak forest, the Willow Creek, overlooking a ravine, is a 5 minute drive from the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at the Harbor Shores Resort, the Paw Paw River, the St. Joe River, and all the area beaches. This home was was built by my grandfather, Stanley Nowlen in 1923 and has been in our family ever since.
I would like to remodel our bottom floor and rent it out to couples looking for a unique place to stay. We would respect the privacy and quality of life for the surrounding neighbors and not allow loud parties at any time, and cater only to those looking for a quiet place away from the crowd. Please sign my petition and help me demonstrate the benefits Airbnb would provide to our community.

I just sold my rental home last month. I wanted to keep it as an Airbnb until we retired and then use it as as our second home. But when I found out St. Joe TWP wouldn't allow it, my only choice was to sell it. Unfortunately you have lost me as a higher paying property taxpayer: my continued financial support of the area and what would have been my guests.
I like think its a great idea. Mr Nowlen was our neighbor for many years and we chatted everytime he walked by. It would be a great way to honor his memory, he loved that property. It's off the road so neighbors probably would never even notice the guests.
An Airbnb would be a wonderful way for visitors to get to know the real St. Joseph Township as the local people do. I'm sure it would have a positive impact on the economy of the area, and would create a positive view of the area in the minds of visitors.
Our family came up to Southwest MI this summer fo4 a week. We were looking for a vacation rental in St. Joe. Alas, the closest we could find to meetour needs was in South Haven. It was a lovely town and we enjoyed it. But we would have preferred St. Joe
This is exactly the kind of accommodation I am looking for when I travel from Chicago to beautiful Michigan. Hotels are okay, but venues like this one are frequently the reason I travel at all for quiet weekend getaways. There is nothing quite like home away from home when you're on the road!
Absolutely NOT... We Don't need people partying and carrying on like they're on Vacation.. Go Get a HOTEL... We pay Taxes, We have lived here since the Start of the Township.. Take your Chicago Ideas elsewhere...

I support this 100% What a grand opportunity for the introverted traveler looking for a peaceful stay near a beautiful lake shore city. There definitely needs to be more alternative choices for vacation stays in SW MI.
