Steven Cheng has been teaching at Club H / Base NJ for over six and a half years – and he is one of the most beloved and respected yoga teachers in the NY/NJ area. His classes are well attended by dedicated regulars, attracting yoga beginners and advanced yogis alike. He brings the same caliber of teaching as top yoga studios – and transforms the class into something more than just a yoga class in a gym. Many of his students have joined / remained at Base NJ because of his classes, as opposed to joining local yoga studios.

On 9/18, without prior notification, students attending Steven Cheng’s Thursday 7:15 PM class were told that he will no longer be teaching the particular time slot. On 9/20, again without prior notification, students attending his two Saturday AM classes were told that he will no longer be teaching the classes either. Many of the regulars are no longer planning to attend these yoga classes due to the fact that the classes are no longer up to the same standard.

While the new management at Base has been doing a great job of improving the club's standards over the past couple of month, we feel that neglecting to keep great teachers at the club would be detrimental to that effort. We hope that the management will make the right decision and bring Steven Cheng’s yoga classes back to Base.
