On July 14th, 20th and August 7th of 2015 there was an arbitration hearing and decision with respect to a technological change regarding dispatch and the requirement of union personnel. Local 213 members argued the loss of union jobs; Lafarge, upon their submissions, argued "that there is a history of both bargaining unit and excluded staff performing Dispatcher work. Lafarge asserts that the computer initiative will dispense with the need for Dispatchers, such that the Dispatcher job will disappear" since this ruling Kevin Chapman has been supporting our members by taking the initiative to fill the one union position currently available at dispatch, working along side several non-union dispatchers and at times not a single Teamsters Local 213 member is at dispatch. Additionally, since the arbitration ruling of August 7th, 2015 there is a material change in circumstances and suggests a possible violation of the arbitration ruling; contrary to Lafarge's argument with respect to the technological change and their submissions that the dispatcher job will "disappear" it has come to the members attention that the software technology is a total flop and simply does not work as suggested. Given the current circumstances, more than ever, teamsters local 213 members are needed back at our dispatch where the members belong. We NEED ALL members to petition against this and bring this work BACK TO THE MEMBERS OF TEAMSTERS 213!!
