Brookwood parents have not been informed that our beloved Mrs. Ratliff was reassigned to another school against her wishes. Normally a transfer is requested by the teacher, but someone else completed and submitted the paperwork without her knowledge or consent. She was notified the day after school got out, so none of our children had a chance to say good-bye to her. Please sign this petition to request that SMSD reinstate Mrs. R back to Brookwood where she belongs!

The administration can no longer ignore this level of public interest in the reassignment process. I have requested a formal meeting with the district superintendent to discuss the procedural irregularities surrounding this transfer.

I worked as a buddy teacher with Mrs. R when I was a teacher at Brookwood. Mrs. R cared about her students, had creative ideas, was an innovative and hands-on teacher, and a supportive staff member. The SM school district and this Brookwood administrator don't seem to admire these attributes.

My daughter never had Mrs. R but all parents whose children did have her raved about her. Unfortunately she is not the first teacher to be "punished" in some way during this principal's tenure. Dr. Hinson needs to take a stand. He has not been afraid to fire other administrators so what is stopping him now?

This seems very unfair. Mrs. R has nurtured so many students- many not even in her own classroom. I am not sure why she did not have a say or was involved in the decision to transfer. Mrs. R has always shown compassion to her students and I stand with many others against this.

This is heartbreaking. Mrs. R is an experienced and highly competent educator. She provided the nurturing environment my daughter needed to flourish and grow in school. Her years of service should be honored and respected. This causes me to be concerned about our school in general. Thank you to the organizers of this petition for bringing this to our attention!

Allison loved Mrs. R. We would be sad to see her go. To have no notice on the situation seems drastically unfair.

This news saddens me! Our boys didn't have Mrs. R for Kindergarten, but she still managed to connect with them and make it known to me how special they were. Nothing about this is ok!

Mrs. Ratliff deserves to be back at her own school! The transfer act was unconscionable!

Be careful when you use the word "all". I am a parent of a child who did indeed have Mrs. R. I have not and will never rave about her. She puts on a great show, and I bought it, actually requesting her for my child. In fact it has been by far the worst Kindergarten experience of any of my children, (I have more than one child). It was a difficult year. My child was a target for her. My child struggled to the point that they did not want to go to school, and to this day, years later, still talks of how they would consider that the worst year they had in school. Over the years there I witnessed quite a number of children who could not be successful in her room due to her inability to be flexible with their differences. I know I am not the only parent with the only child that did not find success in her room, I do know of several parents who requested that their child not be in her room, or those who chose not to attend Brookwood for Kindergarten so as to avoid placement in her room. So please don't speak for "all" parents of "all" the children who have been a member of Mrs. R's classroom. There was nothing to rave about except maybe her Oscar worthy performance as a great teacher, because in my opinion it was just a show for the adults.
