we actually did it, kelly bates is officially back to her full time slot. im still in shock that we pulled this off but so thankful to everyone who stuck with me. keep an eye on the screen and lets just make sure this stays permanent.
Tell WJAR - NBC 10 that unless they return Kelly Bates to her normal Meteorological time slots and renew her FULL TIME contract, we will no longer be WJAR - NBC 10 viewers.
Kelly Bates has been doing the weather since 1996 and was just voted "Best Female Meteorologist" by RI Monthly Magazine, and yet the younger, significantly less expeirenced Kelly Love was hired to replace retiring meteorologist Gary Ley, and Kelly Bates was given only part time, weekend duties. Kelly Bryant - Love has only been doing weather since Fall 2009, as indicated on her Linkedin account. Tell WJAR - NBC 10 you won't be force fed a replacement just because she's a younger version!
we just hit ten thousand signatures and i am seriously blown away by all the support. its clear that so many of you miss seeing kelly bates in her usual slots. lets keep pushing because the station definitely has to be paying attention by now.

Kelly is a staple of RI, and although I may just be 26, I grew up watching her report the weather and do her job well. I don't think the way she was treated for her service was right and she should be given another opportunity to continue excelling.

I got a response from an email I sent. Stated she was not let go. She didn’t renew her contract. I believe you made it impossible for her to renew so yes she was let go. I already boycott the Today show so I have no problem changing my news station.

Kelly has been a wonderful addition to WJAR since her debut. My family have been afaithful WJAR viewers for 30+ years, but I'm re-thinking my loyalty to the station after this fiasco. Why does it seem like this stuff doesn't happen to male employees?

Really, does Sinclair not realize the viewing public can see the obvious sexism and ageism in the firing of Ms Bates? The RI viewing public likes competent, skilled, friendly, and relatable television journalists - we care not about anything else.

20 years given to channel 10, did a fabulous job, loved by her fans & just let go like a dirty rag. Sinclair, I will be switching channels. 1st Meghan Mooney leaves, then Lindsay Iadelucca, both loved by many, now Kelly Bates. Shame on you Sinclair.

I enjoyed watching her on the weekend and on the week days at noon. I thought that if they needed someone to come in to fill in for someone else she was there. She did a lot for them .She would do the weather at the fairs. I will really miss her !!

Channel 6, will no longer exist. It was bought out by the parent company of WJAR channel 10. Most of what they show will be on a new channel 10.2. The change is tomorrow December 1rst, 2025.

Channel 6, no longer exist, It was bought out by the parent company of Channel 10 WLNE will will move to 10.2 on December 1. Actually, only the local stuff is moving. WLNE will still exist as ROAR. It may get lower ratings than WLNE. To me, TV news is Art Lake and Jim Taricani
