The FDA currently defers "men who have sex with other men (MSM)" from donating blood for a 12 month period, which discriminates against gay and bisexual men. The goal of this petition is to bring awareness and change to this discriminatory policy that our federal government supports. All blood donations go through a dozen tests to screen for any issues or diseases that could be harmful to a blood transfusion recipient, so there is no need to filter out all MSM as they do not all have HIV/AIDS which is the chief scientific reason as to why the FDA has deferred these men. So side with us and sign this petition if you believe that the FDA should eliminate this policy and that will put gay and bisexual men on equal terms with straight men. By signing this petition you can help more lives to be saved, and you can show the FDA that we will not be discriminated against, because at the end of the day...Blood is Blood.
