We, the undersigned, believe that it is medically and scientifically unwarranted for the Food and Drug Administration to exclude from donating blood all gay men who have been sexually active since 1977. By signing this petition, we urge the FDA to implement a new policy based on science instead of discrimination. We believe the FDA should assess potential blood donors on their behavior rather than on their membership in a particular group.

I am truly stunned by the level of support this has gained since the beginning. This momentum belongs entirely to you and your willingness to speak up for fairness.

Its 2016. Testing is accurate now. Just test the blood and stop the homophobia already.

Been trying to donate for years just to be turned away because of who I am. It makes no sense when they could just screen the actual blood.

This rule is so outdated it hurts. Needs to change now.

Such a waste of perfectly good blood supplies when so many people need help. Get with the times.
