As middle school parents we have learned to accept that there is a widening space
between our children and us. That space
allows for growth, independence and self-sufficiency. These are all good things, but for parents,
the space itself can be difficult. As
middle school concludes, the students celebrate with an 8th grade
social. As parents, we work in the
background and help them prepare for their night.
As upcoming 8th grade parents , we would like the
chance to participate in a recognition ceremony in addition to the 8th grade social. The recognition ceremony doesn't have to be time intensive or
expensive. This ceremony could celebrate
the transition from middle school to high school and it would be a great time
to recognize the accomplishments of specific students, including those that
have received awards or who have achieved honor roll or athletic
accomplishments . It could be during
school hours and it wouldn’t need to be that long. The important thing is for it to be open to
parents and family members and that it would allow families to share in a
formal celebration together.
Please add a recognition ceremony to the 2014-2015 calendar for the upcoming 8th grade class. 6th and 7th grade parents would be happy to step in and assist in any way we can.
these kids work so hard all through middle school. they deserve a proper ceremony to mark the transition before they head off to high school. its a big milestone!
