Significant revisions have been made to the Bemidji ordinance relating to rental housing registration prior to public reading #2 and will again be revised prior to the City Council meeting on August 1, 2011. This ordinance will significantly impact not only the residents of Bemidji (current and future property owners, current and future tenants) but others as well. This ordinance will also have a significant economic impact on the City of Bemidji.
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to allow adequate time for all parties that will be impacted by this Revised Ordinance to review, evaluate and provide public comment on the final version of the Rental Housing Registration Code. We respectfully request the Mayor and City Council to vote to schedule three public readings of the Ordinance as revised for the August 1, 2011, meeting of the City Council.
The momentum is undeniable now. City officials can no longer pretend this ordinance does not require a full public hearing process.

The city council needs to slow down. my rent is already high enough without them adding more fees because they didnt bother to read the rules properly first.

Three readings is just basic common sense. You cant just rush through something that changes how everyone lives and works in this town.
