We are all disappointed at the destruction of a small but idyllic plot of land in Belmont park known as the Wetlands or "Boggy" Meadow. Full of beautiful trees, marsh plants and even small orchids, it was a habitat also enjoyed by many birds and animals. It has now been reduced to wood chippings and tree stumps, and whilst we are all disappointed by the lack of consultation and communication with the local community we understand that the ability to return to status quo is nil. Therefore these signatures will support potential future requests to look at alternatives to the current situation e.g. replacement replanting schemes or alternative arboricultural plans AND register your disappointment with the loss of this "Urban Jewel" You can also like our page FRIENDS OF BELMONT PARK on Facebook.
It is not impossible to bring back this beautiful place to what it used to be, it would take time and for humans to leave this place alone but it can be done but again it has to be with human beings to leave this place alone and to let it all grow back (easier said than done since most people are scum)!

Honestly heartbreaking to see it like this. Used to take the dog there every weekend and now it is just a muddy mess. Why do they always ruin the nice bits?

I really hope they replant it properly. It was the only bit of actual nature left in this end of the park and now it is just woodchips.
