One fourth of the Bronx borough's population, approximately 368,247 people, is under the age of 18. These young people need a bright future. Part of giving them a bright future is providing them with a sound education. The goal of this petition is to garner support for another high performing academic option, one that is based on a proven model that has sent students to Bronx Science, Laguardia School for Arts, and so many other high performing high schools. We want the opportunity to continue doing the work we love and to provide more high quality academic options in our community for everyone.

Bronx Charter School for Excellence 1 (BCSE 1) is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School in the Parkchester region of the Bronx, serving grades K-8. In the fall of 2016, BCSE is replicating its academic model and opening Bronx Charter School for Excellence (BCSE 2) for students in grades K-1.

In an effort to continue to serve more families in the surrounding neighborhoods, BCSE is proposing to open three more charter schools in the next 3 years. The proposal would open Bronx Charter School for Excellence 3 (BCSE 3) in the fall of 2017, Bronx Charter School for Excellence 4 (BCSE 4) in the fall of 2018, and Bronx Charter School for Excellence 5 (BCSE 5) in the fall of 2019.
