On July 6, 2010, Atlanta City Councilmember Michael Julian Bond and I introduced legislation calling for a temporary pilot program to extend the hours that restaurants, bars, and clubs can serve alcohol in the Edgewood and Auburn Avenue business corridor. During the pilot period, the city would study the public benefits and risks of making the change permanent and of extending this privilege to other parts of the city.

The feedback coming in from the survey is helping us build a much clearer picture of what this corridor needs to thrive. I am meeting with city planning staff to present your initial responses and show them the scale of local interest. Please post the survey link on your neighborhood Facebook groups so we can capture more perspectives before those talks continue.

Finally some progress. If we want people to actually visit and spend money we gotta keep the doors open later. Makes sense.
My coworkers and I would love to grab a drink after our shifts end. Everything closes way too early downtown.
NO! We dont need more drunk people walking around at 4am. Think about the residents for once.
long overdue. other cities do this no problem. stop holding back our nightlife district
Keep the bars open later! Atlanta is a big city and we need to stop treating it like a quiet suburb. Let the businesses thrive.

Living right near edgewood is already loud enough on friday nights. If they extend the hours it will be impossible to sleep. Bad idea.
