The City of Orem is discussing the construction of a large dog park at our beloved Orem Community Park. The location will take up close to an acre of land and will be just south of the playground near the pavilion where families have frequent reunions and bbqs, on the field which is the only large piece of grass available for activities our park was intended for. The current grass area where the proposed dog park would be would take away from all the youth sports practices, volleyball games, flag football games, kite flying and so many other activities. In addition the the safety of our kids while walking thru the park to get to the other side of the neighborhood and school will be compromised as this is intended to be a leash free area. In addition the area of the park is already heavily filled with traffic from the baseball diamond and people traveling to the different schools, the last thing this area needs is more traffic and less available parking for people coming to watch games at the baseball diamond. The dog park will be a leash free area and given the close proximity to so many homes, which would then place this in the backyard of their homes, there are many many children who will be playing within feet of the proposed dog park and this is a large safety concern. The proposed dog park does not belong in such a high traffic heavily people filled park which would remove the only large free piece of grass left in the park for people to use freely for the activities a park is created for. The plot of land is used constantly for the above mentioned activities. Placing this dog park would take away the opportunity for so many people to truly enjoy the park. It does not belong in our Orem Community Park. Please sign this petition if you are opposed to the construction of the dog park in the Orem Community Park.

I am a dog owner and would not use this type of facility. The needs of those with two legs should out weight those with four. There is an increasing vibe for people to be more active. This proposed dog park does not add to the need for people to be more active. A dog park can be added elsewhere. Perhaps in a place that doesn't take away already productive space.

This area is overused as is. I am dog owner and live close to the park. I don't feel that this is a need in Orem. Why would we take away good useful park are from thr populace as a whole to cater to the select few.

This area is used by many sports teams for a practice area. It is also a gathering place for church groups and family reunions. Families gather to play games and enjoy the space. A dog park would take all of this away from the community.

Definitely do not want a dog park so near to my home. My kids walk through that area of the park to get to other neighborhoods. We use that area constantly during good weather!

This park is bordered by one high school and one elementary school that use the park every day in warm weather to extend their limited campuses with sports and activities. There are other parked in Orem that do not border schools and are underused. Putting the dog park here is a lazy up researched choice by the city

We use this park as our go to for family get togethers and play time after going to the library or At the end of the day before dinner. My children are quite young and I worry about their safety being surrounded by dogs. I also have family members severely allergic to dogs and would prefer that our favorite park be a place we can all continue to go to to keep and build our relationships.

The park is too heavily used for human activity. There are better locations for a dog park.

I think that both the community pain and bonneville park are inappropriate sites for a proposed dog park. My friends and I have played frisbee and football at the community park for years. I don't want to lose that, or others to lose that either. Put the dog park somewhere where housing is not yet developed so potential homebuyers are already aware of the park. It is (in my opinion) unethical to use taxpayer money to build the dog park when all property owners adjacent to the community park are opposed to its construction .
