We agree in principle with the request for an independent audit of the hiring practices of the Halifax Regional Municipality, in order to examine the integrity of the policies and procedures employed in all municipal employment competitions. By signing this document we are acknowledging the importance of open, accountable merit based hiring standards. Further we agree that public employees at all levels of government must represent the most qualified individuals from our diverse community. The results of a said audit must be made public to insure that the process is consistent and free from interference, political or otherwise, so that the most qualified candidates are selected
