We, the people of Nova Scotia, deserving open and accountable government, hereby petition the Government of Nova Scotia to restart the process of review of MLA's salaries and expenses with the aim of keeping it open and honest. This precludes the use of any former politicians to set the terms of such a review. The people of Nova Scotia, being the employers of MLA's should be given a say in the end renumeration, and be given the opportunity to vote on the resultant package. In conjunction with this review, the Auditor General should be instructed to do a detailed report on past abuses, with all information passed to our prosecution services for legal action where appropriate. Revenue Canada should be kept informed as to tax implications to members of government and their parties where warranted. Members returning items to govenment must account for initial pricing of materials to ensure falsified reciepts are not involved and the initital purchases were properly and legaly obtained. We petition for this in hopes of creating a more fair and honest government reflecting the needs of all Nova Scotians regardless of income levels or employment status.
The current volume of support necessitates a formal transition from gathering names to drafting a briefing document for the legislature. I am finalizing the language for a letter to the Auditor General to ensure our requests are structured for administrative review.

Sick of seeing these high salaries when our roads are falling apart and healthcare is a joke.

Why should a former politician be in charge of setting pay for current ones? That is such a conflict of interest. Fix this mess.

About time someone looked into these expenses. Ridiculous what they get away with on the tax payers dime.

We need transparency. If they have nothing to hide then why be afraid of an auditor general report? stop wasting our money.

Enough is enough. These people give themselves raises while the rest of us are struggling to pay for heat. Time for them to play by the same rules as everyone else.
