Dr. Jacqueline English opened Beach Family Medical in Long Beach over 14 months ago and has requested to be a provider with GHI since then. It’s been wonderful to have such a kind, caring primary physician in our local community. Shortly after having opened she found out that GHI/Emblem rejected her as a covered provider because there are too many providers in the area. Unfortunately this is incorrect and we do not have many primary physicians in LB. This practice is a blessing to our community and since many firefighters, police officers, teachers unions have GHI /Emblem as our insurance carriers we will not be covered for our medical visits. Rather than just calling myself every month I thought I would send a petition to see if anyone else would like to petition GHI to accept Beach Family Medicals application.

I spoke with Dr. English yesterday and she is overwhelmed by the stories you are sharing about how much this practice means to your families. We are currently compiling your comments into a formal packet to present directly to the Emblem Health regional directors. This is about ensuring our neighborhood physicians are accessible to the people who serve our community every day.

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only one struggling to access quality care in our own neighborhood. Dr. English has been such a light for my family and it feels incredible to know so many of you share this frustration with the current insurance restrictions.

I believe we should support all medical professionals who want to serve our community. Sadly, it seems the first responders are the ones being affected adversely by the type of insurance they’re provided. Please alter your position on this medical practice. Thank you.
Dr English is an excellent doctor and much needed in our community!! She has an excellent reputation and is in demand. Her patients constantly recommended her. Many patients have GHI in Long Beach and want to have Dr English as their doctor. I urge you to add her to your GHI list of in network doctors.
She is the best provider in Long Beach and I should be able to use my insurance to use her and not pay a $200 out of network fee every year.
Our community is highly populated with men and women who have acquired their GHI/Emblem Health from their employment in various civil service careers such as teachers, nurses, police officers and firefighters. We deserve access to quality health care providers who accept our insurance. Please reconsider.
I have emblem health and am unable to find a doctor that I trust and want to see. I met with Dr. English a few months back and would love for her to be my PCP, but unfortunately emblem does not have beach family medical listed as a provider.

I am an NYC civil servant, my family lives in Long Beach, and we are insured through Emblem Health / HIP and would appreciate this practice being covered.
