After three years, we are getting very close to having the City put in traffic lights at Armadale and Bloor. But the community needs to show its support to keep the momentum going.

City Transportation is aiming to bring a report to Etobicoke Community Council in November that supports the installation of traffic lights at the intersection of Armadale and Bloor. A traffic study was done last Fall for the intersection that showed that it more than met the requirements for such measures. The members of Community Council will have to vote on whether or not to install the lights. Councillor Doucette will be supporting these measures and given that Transportation's study supports this as well it is expected to pass.

We all know how dangerous it is to cross at this intersection. And yet, dozens of people do it every hour because the two closest intersections with traffic lights, are too great a distance.

Armadale is one of the exits for the subway and buses, so it is a busy point for pedestrian traffic.

We, the undersigned, who live, visit and work in the Bloor West area, support the installation of traffic lights at the intersection of Bloor St and Armadale, consistent with the needs identified by the community and the Transportation Study.

The momentum behind this push is proof that people are finally fed up with the city gambling with our safety at this intersection. Transportation officials and the council cannot keep ignoring our demands while we risk our lives just to cross the street.

I am one of those jay walkers! Please give me, my husband, my daughter, Grace, and my son, Nathan, a safer way to cross!

As a parent that lives on Armadale with two small children I have many concerns about this intersection. A traffic light and enforcement of the parking rules near the intersection will improve the safety of our neighborhood.

My daughter was in a car accident at this corner. There are hundreds of blind spots due to parked cars on South side. This is exacerbated by the heavy traffic. Someone is going to get killed.

I was hit by a car at Armadale and Bloor on February 1, 2015 and had to be taken to the hospital . It is a very dangerous intersection and too far from Jane or Windermere. Please put a crosswalk on the east side. It would not delay the buses turning onto Bloor.

My husband is in a wheelchair, so having lights and a crosswalk would be very beneficial. We always walk to the nearest lights even though we are just going across Bloor! In bad weather it would be very helpful to be able to cross there.

A safe way to cross Bloor here is needed.

We need a light at Armadale and Bloor. I fully support this safety measure for my closest intersection.
