Governor Asa Hutcherson recently announced the hr would no longer allow Arkansas to participate in the Federal Unemployment Program for the 300 a week in pandemic benefits. Stating that there is a shortage in workers when the jobs that do state they are hiring are jobs of low minimum wage and do not offer the hours nor the financial security of its employees. We are not under the impression that benefits will last long term but the 10 weeks the Governor is making the decision to take away from us would allow us to male plans and transition to our once Sufficient employment opportunity.
The momentum behind this petition highlights the urgent need for financial stability for Arkansas families. It is encouraging to see this level of collective focus on a decision that impacts our neighbors so deeply.

I can't support my children financially without this. They can't get to and from school if I'm working because covid still has their vans shut down to get to and from the school

I have a 1 year old that should not be in daycare. He can't social distance or wear a mask. He can't even get a vaccine but I'm supposed to risk his safety? No

I have a husband and 4 kids 3 of them disabled. My youngest baby has chronic lung disease and a hole in her heart. We are all quarantined because it's the best thing for her. She isn't even one yet. We shouldn't have to be forced to work because our governor is having a hissy fit! It shocks me the lack of empathy for the very people who put him office!

I am self employed and the Pandemic definitely affected my business and I haven’t regained enough to sustain yet. Having until September like promised would be very helpful as I restructure how I do business.
