‘A Cry For Humanity’ petition will be sent to Governor Tom Wolf in regards to the lack of information and communication, as well as, the disregard for timely determinations for all Pennsylvania unemployment claims especially since COVID-19 began.

‘ A Cry For Humanity’ is meant to bring attention to the vast amount of people in Pennsylvania and those who live in New Jersey but were employed within Pennsylvania, and are currently waiting on either a determination or funds that are due. Most claimants signing this petition have been waiting a minimum of 10 weeks or more for any updates on their situation or for actual funds to be released.

This petition is also meant to bring to light the obvious issues that are within the entire unemployment compensation unit which includes everything from receiving a financial determination, a debit card, a PIN number and all the way to actually being able to speak to someone via their chat service, help email service or via telephone. After people actually receive the first three needed items, communication seems to go to a complete halt as there are no updates given on the website for individual claims for weeks at a time. There is no apparent process as to how an examiner even received your claim or what location it actually falls in. Even with hundreds of daily attempts to reach a human being, the chances are extremely slim.

This petition is meant to promote a very needed change within the system itself especially during this time of COVID-19 and a more transparent system in general process needs to be put into place whether that be the following:
1. Hiring more staff
2. Implement a numbered “Call back” system for all to have the option of leaving their phone number for a return call.
3. Updating software
4. Immediately disburse funds for anyone claiming PUA.
5. Change requirements to prevent fraud from the onset so that there is no delay to this extent.

WE CANNOT WAIT ANY LONGER - IT IS A MATTER OF SURVIVAL.

People are suffering, trying to get through day to day, putting food on the table for their families, trying to accommodate children who are at a young age and may need to be schooled at home even if on a hybrid level, but not knowing if that may change in a month if COVID cases begin to rise again, or just simply paying a mortgage, rent or monthly bill.

This petition is for humanity and the need to allow us, as a whole, to be able to sustain to some degree until we are able to find future employment.

We understand that this is not a “forever thing” and will ultimately end, but at the end of the day we have all played our part and paid into this fund that is meant for everyone and we are simply asking you to do the same in return.

Anxiously Awaiting,
Your Fellow American

November 8, 2020

I am spending all my waking hours reading these messages and the stories about the missing pin numbers or the endless phone lines are just breaking my heart because people are losing their homes while they wait. My coffee is cold and I have been staring at the screen for hours trying to find a way to get someone to actually listen to us instead of just ignoring the inbox until it overflows. Please keep posting your experiences in the comments because even if they do not answer us yet they cannot possibly ignore the sheer volume of our reality forever.

I really never thought this would gain this much steam but here we are and it is honestly wild to see so many people dealing with the exact same mess. It feels like we are finally being seen after all that time spent just staring at the wall while waiting for a single update that never comes.

This is not right that we keep getting the run around when we are able to speak with a Rep. after redialing over 200 times! I keep getting the excuse that it is an Examiners hands with not decision for weeks now. My bills are piling up and jobs are not hiring as much because there is so much competition for one job you apply for! All of this is insane and something needs to be done!

I have filed 2 bi weekly claims so far and not seen a dime yet. I received my determination letter and all other paperwork and also my debit card they send you, I activated it upon receiving it. I have bills due, groceries to buy and 4 mouths to feed with a 100% total and permanently disabled marine combat veteran fiancé who is on a fixed income w/ no way to supplement his income, he is only paid once a month on the 1st and his income is not enough to sustain us... I try calling without success I tried the live chat option-did not work; I never got a response from a live agent after trying for over 2 hours....I am literally at a loss for words and to say I am struggling would be a gross understatement. Please everyone who is in a similar situation with UC or PUA...sign the petition!

The petition is excellent and describes my dire situation of continuing to wait more then 16 weeks for my benefits. There has been no communication from PUA as to my 2 issues and I live in NJ work in PA.

Hopeful that we all get relief from our current financial struggles. The inability to speak to a live customer service representative has made our unemployment woes incredibly difficult to have faith in a system we have all paid into, and unfortunately need to utilize the benefits of.

I filed on May 29th and called August 5th to be told they never mailed the paperwork to one of my employers and it is now Nov 6th and they still have not made a decision. What are we suppose to pay our bills with? Do you even really care? I sent you 2 emails and both time you said to be patient which I have been but it is to the point I have no more. This is unacceptable and we should be paid interest on the money that you all have withheld from us which is only fair, if we owe the state money they charge us interest. Fair is fair. Now get it figured out before it is way to late for most people to survive this crisis and feed there family.

The department of labor and industry has failed us, and I'm stressing if I can pay my bills and lose my house or live on the street. I hope someone will read this and help us.
