We believe that rack games at The Golf Trails foster camaraderie, friendship and competition and are an essential part of our club experience. Further we believe they foster stronger loyalty to the club and help to introduce new members to frequent golfers, enhancing their club experience. We believe frequent rack players tend to spend more money on golf, accessories, food, drink and play in more MGA-sponsored tournaments then the general membership, strengthening the club and the overall club experience for everyone, including staff. We the undersigned respectfully request the resumption of rack games at The Golf Trails.

Updates

October 15, 2020

I have been hearing stories from so many of you about how missing these games has stripped the joy out of our weekends at the club. I am currently working on a formal proposal to show the management exactly how this change hurts our community spirit and limits our time together on the course.

October 15, 2020

Seeing this level of enthusiasm reminds me why I started playing here in the first place. These games are the heartbeat of our club and it is clear I am not the only one who feels their absence.

I believe we need the rack times back. Having to scramble to get a tee time is like being a day player at a muni course. Loyal long time members deserve better than that.

I joined the Golf Trails over a year ago and played around 3 times a week. At that time I wasn't playing in any rack games and rarely competed in MGA events because I didn't know anyone. I then joined Bob Brisson's "posse" and began to enjoy the club alot more. I then found out about the low HCP 'Dogfight' and have been meeting new people during this weekly game and really enjoying the Club and course ALOT more! I sincerely hope this group is allowed to continue - as it's substantially increased my enjoyment of the Club membership.

I specifically joined The Golf Trails a little over a year ago because of the different racks and the camaraderie and friendships I hoped to make by joining the MGA. I typically only play on Saturday mornings and having a group to play with in the morning is a top priority for me. I played in several different racks but have found that the Dogfight was the right fit for me. With the decision to no longer set aside times for the racks I now feel like I am calling in once a week for a tee time at a public course.

I am a member at golf trails not for the course, but for the friendship. I have made many friends playing the dogfight. I am only able to play Saturday AM and now we cannot get times. We are a very supportive group of the club always dining afterwards. The club is now worse than a public course in getting tee times on Saturday morning. The club has continued to expand members without thinking about how that would affect members ability to get times. I hope they consider the loyalty of the rack groups and their members by reconsidering their tee time approach.

There are other courses nearer to me in Tomball than The GTW...I just don't drive to the GTW for golf but for the camaraderie generated via our Dogfight rake group as I'm sure that same is with the other rack groups...Let us play as a rack!!

I joined the golf trails at the urging of Nick Evans and the promise that the dogfight was a great group of guys and a great game on Saturday mornings. He was 100% right. If not for this game I would not play and would not need a membership.
