PETITION TO REINSTATE “SHOW ME THE MONEY” GAME

To: Lake Ashton Community Activities Director

We, the undersigned residents of Lake Ashton, respectfully request the reinstatement of the “Show Me the Money” game on Tuesday evenings.

This game is about so much more than winning a little money. Approximately 70 residents participate every week, and it has become an important part of our community’s social life.

One of the most wonderful things about this game is that residents who rarely, if ever, leave their homes are now coming out every Tuesday to participate. They are meeting new people, making friends, laughing, having fun, and feeling more connected to their neighbors and community. For some residents, this game gives them something to look forward to each week and a reason to get out of the house.

Lake Ashton is a community where friendships, activities, and social connections are important. “Show Me the Money” helps bring people together and creates a welcoming atmosphere where residents can enjoy themselves and build lasting friendships.

We also believe it is only fair to consider that other games in our community are played for money as well. If those games are permitted, we respectfully ask that “Show Me the Money” be given the same consideration and opportunity to continue, subject to the same rules and requirements.

Taking away this game means taking away more than an activity. It takes away a valuable opportunity for residents to socialize, connect, and enjoy time together.

We respectfully ask the Lake Ashton Community Activities Director to reconsider this decision and reinstate “Show Me the Money” on Tuesdays. Please consider the approximately 70 residents who enjoy this game each week and the positive impact it has on their lives.

Let’s continue to encourage activities that bring our residents together, create friendships, reduce isolation, and make Lake Ashton an even better place to live.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and commitment to the well-being and happiness of our community.

Please sign below in support of reinstating “Show Me the Money”!

This evening out activity is very important to the community. When it first started, there was maybe 35 people. It grew to at least 75 residents, people coming out, friends meeting friends, making new friends. We do not have a restaurant. The restaurant was a gathering place. Now, Show Me The Money has fulfilled that void for socialization. It’s senior citizens having innocent fun. Not everyone is a golfer, bingo player, card player, pickleball player. But anyone can play this game. please help

Because in Lake Ashton, we allow Bingo, bunco, poker, and trivia, with the winners winning money

Because it’s a harmless, enjoyable game we looked forward to every week. Hardly gambling when the organizer takes $0 for all the coordination, supplies and work.
