East Dunbartonshire Council are NOT including an indoor bowling facility in the new Allander Sports Centre plans ...

We ask East Dunbartonshire Council to re-evalute this decision quickly, therefore keeping the continuity of Indoor Bowling within East Dunbartonshire.

Such facilities are so important, especially in an ageing community. If it is not viable to run an indoor bowling facility, would it be possible to create a multi use surface or flexible space that could be bowling in winter and an alternate use eg roller rink, in summer?

Thought the council were pro activities and as the bowling is well used in current location this once again shows the lack of joined up thinking and leadership of the EDC. Less cycle lanes expenditure and spend the money on what local residents actually do use.

This facility is used by my dad and is a form of exercise, a source of social interaction and a major hobby in his area. It might even be a reason that he moved to the area. He's been using the facility for over 30 years.

My late father used this facility extensively and his quality of life for far the better for it. He played outdoors bowls in summer and indoor bowls in winter. Without the indoor bowls he would have gone for literally months at at time without any physical activity or routine.

This club provides a vital active, social environment, particularly for older people in our community. Social inclusion and engagement has been proven to be a fundamental part of health and well being in older age. The Council should therefore see this facility as a priority.

Facility must be saved as Allander IBC play an integral part of Indoor Bowling in Scotland. The sport needs help to encourage, promote and enhance the game, not discouraging news from local authorities on potential closure.

With an ever increasing ageing population, it seems very short sighted to close this facility. We should be trying to keep the older generation active and involved.
