The city has officially denied the application for the rehabilitation house on Babich Street. Your collective action ensured that the safety of our neighborhood and children remained the primary concern for the council. We must continue to stay informed and vigilant regarding any future developments in our immediate area.

All of us in the Terry Fox elementary school area were given a letter from the City Of Abbotsford on March 12/2008 stating that they have received an application for a Drug/Alcohol Rehab house for the property at 2946 Babich Street. We feel that this is not the type of establishment we want in our neighborhood, especially less than 500 feet from an elementary school and park. We have no problem with the people who are trying to get off drug and alcohol dependency but we do have a problem with the people these types of houses attract, mainly the "friends" of these people, drug and alcohol addicted individuals and other transient types who will congregate in our neighborhood. With this added congregation of "less desirable" individuals we expect to see an increase in property theft and damage as well as needles and other drug and alcohol related paraphernalia left in our school, park and neighborhood. To us this is totally unacceptable and unreasonable so we encourage everyone in the Terry Fox school area who agrees with us to please sign our petiton. Thank you, Concerned Terry Fox area homeowners.

I have been reviewing the correspondence sent to the city office regarding the proposed facility on Babich Street. The shared concerns regarding the proximity of this establishment to our elementary school are being compiled for presentation to the local planning department.

NO WAY. we have enough problems with break ins as it is. city hall needs to wake up and start thinking about the actual residents for once.

Absolutely not. Keep our neighborhood safe for the kids. This is the wrong place for a facility like this.

Too close to the park. I already find trash in my yard and this is just gonna make it worse. Put it somewhere else away from kids

My kids walk right past that house to get to school every morning. Why on earth would they even consider this location? It makes zero sense.

This is ridiculous. 500 feet from an elementary school?! have they lost their minds???
