PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR MARCH 27, 2019 AT 4PM TO ATTEND THE TOWNSHIP COUNCIL MEETING REGARDING BROADBAND SOLUTIONS.

WE, THE RESIDENTS OF PLYMPTON-WYOMING IN THE COUNTY OF LAMBTON, ONTARIO, HAVE BEEN INDIVIDUALY AND CONTINUOUSLY VOICING OUR CONCERNS AND FRUSTRATIONS WITH THE LACK OF ADEQUATE INTERNET SERVICES CURRENTLY PROVIDED BY EASTLINK TO NO AVAIL.
The CRTC has declared broadband internet a basic telecommunications service.
In a ruling handed down in December of 2016, CRTC, the national regulator ordered the country's internet providers to begin working toward boosting internet service and speeds in rural and isolated areas and to accomplish this the federal government invested up to $500 million dollars. Our area in particular is the exact match for this type of funding and yet 2 years later we are instead receiving much poorer quality services and many times NO service. We have been told that Eastlink has no interest in investing in our area either, yet they continue to take in an erroneous amount of revenue from thousands of households in Lambton County.
Enough is Enough!
1) We are asking our local municipality to be involved with solutions for reliable internet services, especially since the municipality has focused on growth in our area and therefore infrastructure of all basic services should be demanded.
2) We are asking that Lambton County officials who to our understanding are able to obtain and/or disperse federal funds for broad band providers in order to upgrade the services to an acceptable level, work on behalf of their local residents to obtain proper and adequate services.
3)We are asking that the CRTC hold the only current and available provider of broad band services for these subdivisions to be accountable to provide the services that they are obtaining revenue for to do so.
4) We are asking that if Eastlink is not capable of performing its duties, then we are seeking assistance in sourcing out other broad band providers that may be able to obtain funding and/or who may wish to obtain new sources of consumer revenue to supply their services to this region.
This Petition will be sent to Eastlink, Plympton-Wyoming Council, County Council, CRTC. It will also be sent to Cogeco to see if they are interested in expanding to our area.

The growth in support has allowed me to secure a formal slot to present our demands directly to the Plympton-Wyoming council. I am currently finalizing the briefing documents and legal references to ensure our case remains airtight during the upcoming presentation.

Very dissapointed with East Link service in the Blue Point area. I've lived in the area for 6 months now and have had more service interruptions than I can count. The most recent service outage lasted for a whole week over the Christmas holidays. My partner and I are extremely frustrated that other reliable service providers are not available.
Property values are negatively impacted by extremely slow, intermittent and unreliable internet service. Home businesses cannot function and the impact is a big, big deal.
to me it does not make sence to have an entirely new sub division built and to have this poor of internet service. further more while a new sub division is being deisgned and built, someone should really think about the future and put in what is becoming the standard not install what was the old standard services. the new standard is fiber internet. its much easier to do this now than in 10-15 years.
Right now,it seems that Internet costs keep going up, while reliability deteriorates. A modern essential communications infrastructure is clearly needed. SWIFT has started implementation - our leaders need to lobby SWIFT decision makers to ensure our area is at the forefront of the implementation list and has meaningful access to choice of internet providers and competitive rates.
Only one person at a time can use our internet Very frustrating. I was told by easlink to buy a bigger modem. I bought the best one for $400 at best buy that covers 5,000 sq ft house. Only improvement was range , not speed. Please help
Very poor service interferes with working from home on this area and undermines property values.
More speed please . I cant even watch a video . It pauses every 2 seconds.

More than Cogeco should be considered, the reliance on wirelined solutions may not be the answer. More investment in wireless towers and technology...possibly a TekSavvy or other. Either way, our internet speeds and reliability are 1990ish.
